We are a small independent shop in Hackney, run by people who read everything we sell. This is who we are and what we believe in.
Since 2019
It started with
a single shelf.
Margin opened on a quiet side street with one rule: stock only books we would press into a friend's hands. Fiction, philosophy, art, poetry, and political writing — chosen for what endures, not for what sells.
Six years on, that rule still holds. Every title is read by someone here before it earns its place. Every recommendation is personal, and every shelf is built around a sensibility rather than a sales chart.
We host readings, talks, and workshops because a bookshop should be a room for conversation, not just a place to buy and leave. Independent by nature, community at heart.
