Dimly lit bookshop with shelves of books

Est. 2019 · Independent · London

A shop for
slow readers.

Curated shelves, community events, and the kind of recommendations that change how you think.

Who we are

A small bookshop
built on curiosity.

Margin opened its doors in 2019 on a quiet side street in Hackney. We stock fiction, philosophy, art, poetry, and political writing — chosen not for what sells, but for what endures.

Every title on our shelves has been read by someone here. Every recommendation is personal. We believe in slow reading, uncomfortable ideas, and the kind of books you press into someone else's hands.

Independent by nature. Community at heart.

Quotes

"A good book can change your whole world." We believe in the transformative power of reading — not as a hobby or a habit, but as a practice of becoming.

Our shelves are an invitation. Come in, stay a while, leave with something that unsettles you in the best possible way.
